RE: Owning HTT's in the Pacific Northwest

We live in Portland Oregon and camp twelve month a year though only once a month in winter. Yes, honestly our HTT is a big wet hassle when it rains and we have to set it up to dry at home. We are dry and comfortable while camping but if I could tow a regular trailer that is what I would do. The plus side is we get 13-14 MPG while towing.

RE: Hybrids at nice "luxury" RV parks

I have seen more envy than anyone looking down on us. People come by and ask questions and then we compare gas mileage. That is where the envy comes in. It's all good.

RE: Winter in a TT

I full timed in Oregon for many years and saw lots of below freezing temps. I never froze a holding tank. I did wrap my shower drain and heat taped my water line. Storm windows helped alot as did carpet. You will be fine for a few weeks. Plug in heat tape is great stuff and you could put some on waste tanks. You will be fine.

RE: rv park with hot tub or hot spring near portland oregon

MT HOOD RV VILLAGE just east of Sandy on HWY 26. Heated indoor pool, sauna & hot tub. I really nice place and one our family uses during rainy weekends in winter. Dogs are welcome under usual common sense rules. Enjoy!

RE: Parking your HTT by hand

Our Htt caqme with aq roller that goes on bottom of tongur crank. I can push my HTT about on flat smooth sufrace with not much effort. However it only takes a small rock or thin wood to stop me in my tracks.

RE: OPINIONS ON TENT HEATERS ?

Thanks to all. No way I would ever run a generator all night out of respect for others. The "heater Buddy" has a safety shut off if Co2 gets low or if it is tipped. Manufacturer says it is tent safe. Propane bottle will run up to six hours. I agree the zero degree bags are a must. Having said this a heater still sounds nice. To those who use heaters is condensation much of an issue? Thanks again.

RE: A question about 17 foot hybrid single axle

We have a 500 pound difference from empty to loaded and ready to camp so figure aditional weight and consult factory tow specs.I would definetly choose a hybrid over a pop up as you could probley sleep on fold down dinnette table if needed and storage is far more accessable in hybrid as compared to pop up which has to be set up to load. We camp year round in our hybrid. doubtful we would in pop up. Best of luck.Feel free to semd me a private message if you have questions.

OPINIONS ON TENT HEATERS ?

I camped with my younger son's cub scout ben this weekend and, as it was below freezing, I got to pondering tent heaters. I have seen the "Heater Buddy" LP heaters that claim to be tent safe. Anyone use tent heaters? Is condensation a problem? Any other concerns? Any experience with "Heater Buddy"? Our den wants to camp once a month through the full year. WWhat do you think about the heaters?

A & E AWNING TENSION ?

I always put my awning away dry so was surprised to find it wet and mildewey. Upon further exam I noticed awning is not rolling up as tight as when new onto the roller. I believe this causes water to run between the rolls gettin it wet. Is it possible after seven years of use that my recoil spri9ng is weakening and in need of another turn? Yes? No? What do you think? Also my awning seems to be getting kind of "brittle" feeling. I have used a product called "Blast" to clean. Is this drying out the fabric? Really does not see alot of sun use here in Oregon. All opinions welcomed and thanks in advance.

RE: Why buy a hybrid?

With 4 kids, and sometimes more as we are foster parents, we needed lots of space and beds and it had to be towable with our mini van. Our HTT listed below fits the bill in a great way. Another plus is the wildlife we have seen while boondocking and laying in bed with the windows zipped down. The negatives are dealing with wet canvas, noisey neighbors and not being able to lock it up. If you camp in the rain it MUST be set up to dry when you get home. Loud neighbors are not easily muffled out even with running the A.C. We have never been broken into but sure is possible without folding up bunks. We do get 13-14 MPG which is becomming a bigger plus with each passing year.

RE: HTT condensation??

We camp year round in our HTT and, yes, condensation was a problem. We tried the popupgizmo's and they helped as did leaving a window or two cracked a bit. The final solution for us was to run a two gallon electric dehumidifier in the middle of the HTT on the floor. It circulated air and pulled an amazing amount of water out of the air and we had no condensation. Not even on the glass. Not sure why HTT manufacturer's do not offer these as a built in option. Best of luck.

RE: hybrid travel trailer

Welcome to the forum. This is a great group of people who have taught me a great deal. Perhaps I can help. If I am not clear feel free to send me a private E mail for more details. We love our B-19 and have no complaints. The bunk ends are tricky. Especially the rear where, for us, there is very limited space for both mattress and canvas. The bunk will fold up with mattress snapped to platform. There is NO room for bedding however so take it off if used. We use sleeping bags. The "U" frame canvas support will either fit under the mattress or between mattress parts when they are folded. We fold the canvas like an envelope or to put another way the corner is folded over itself at a 45 degree angle. Tuck in the stretch cords and wold up the door. Tighten door latch's until door gasket begins to compress and lock. Can't really help with the front end leak without further info. Best of luck. P.S. Always fold out bunk ends at home after wet weather camping. Never store damp. Best of luck.

RE: Problems with Hybrids?

We are year round campers. No way around the fact that camping in the rain means setting up at home until things dry out. We have set up quick set camopies over the bunk ends and this helps considerably. Inside condensation is not much of an issue since we incorporated a two gallon electric dehumidifier for winter time.two other concerns might be if you have noisey neighbors aside from running the fan on roof A.C. not much you can do. Also security of having bunk ends folded out while away may be a concern though we have never had problems. The main reason we have the hybrid is that we need maximum space to weight ratio. Four kids so need space but tow with mini van. Our R Vision Trail Lite Bantam has given us zero problems after countless trips. It is not all bad. We have dry camped and seen wildlife from our beds that most missed being indoors. Best of luck.

RE: LEVELING YOUR LEVELS ?

Thanks to all for your input on this. My daughter and I will be putting a long level on the floor and a one foot level in the fridge bottom. We will go with the fridge in case of a disagreement between the two. I figure the fridge is most important tnd the floor should be close. We shall see.

LEVELING YOUR LEVELS ?

When my family and I camp all the kids have a job to do when setting up. My six year old daughter tells me when the level bubble on the side of the HTT is centered as I crank the tongue. This has worked fine all summer or so I thought. Last weekend she tells me it's not level and to wait a second. "Now it is Daddty". I ask her how she made it level when I did not turn the crank. She proudly shows me that all she does is move the level, which is adhessive and gives,.I could tell her move of the level was considerable as it felt off level inside. So before I install the new leveler with screwsw do I level by fridge frame? Counter top? both? I am guessing the fridge. What do you think is best? Thanks in advance.

RE: Are your bunk ends open all camping season?

Unless we are drying out after a wet weekend or cleani9ng they stay closed as the cat likes to sleep on them wen open. Keeping them open in a safe location is fine. I pass a PU dealer here in town who leaves them all set up year round. Enjoy!

RE: Recaulking Roof on 2007 Jayco 26L

Sounds like they are taking advantage of you. What does the caulking look like to you? I have never done mine and no leaks. I recently bought some caulking at the hardware store and was amused at the warranty length of some of those products. $500 is rediculas. Best of luck

RE: Need Opinions on Portable Tanks

I was patient and found a used 18 gallon tank. I dump one tank at a time. I think the bigger tanks would be a chore to move when full. Grey fills up faster than black for sure. Even with six family members. Mine has only the two rear wheels and a removable metal handle. I like the four wheel units with side discharge the best. Used is worth waiting for. Best of luck.
